House Minority won’t support Senate-House talks on charter change |

Deputy Minority Leader and AKBAYAN Rep. Risa Hontiveros announced
today that the minority bloc will not support the House-Senate dialogue on
charter change.
“In a straw vote during the last Minority meeting, the sense
of most opposition solons is NOT to support talks between the Senate and House
of Representatives on Senator Nene Pimentel’s charter change proposal. The
House minority will not participate in the dialogue,” AKBAYAN Rep. Hontiveros
revealed.
“We won’t Con Ass and we won’t Cha-cha, not while GMA is
around,” she added.

AKBAYAN gives GMA zero grade on Labor Day |

It’s zero all over for GMA on Labor Day, according to
AKBAYAN Party, which said that nothing real has come out of the GMA
administration’s rhetoric about increasing benefits for workers and providing
relief for the poor.
In its Labor Day protest rally with allied unions under the
Alliance of Progressive Labor, AKBAYAN renewed its call for GMA’s ouster.

AKBAYAN on deletion of generics-only provision: Senate owes public an explanation |

Deputy Minority Leader and AKBAYAN Rep. Risa Hontiveros
announced today that despite the recent snag in the cheaper medicines bill,
proponents of the bill will attempt to have the bicameral report signed.
“However, despite the expected signing of the report today,
the Senate owes the public an explanation for the snag that the bill
encountered,” Rep. Hontiveros said. “The Senate should fully disclose to the
public why it wanted the generics-only provision dropped.”
As the author of three bills on cheaper medicines, including
one that amends to the generics law that strictly require generic prescription
only, Rep. Hontiveros said that the Senate must account for its refusal to
consider, negotiate, or even compromise on the generics-only provision.
